Hi I’m Tina Turenne and although I have had many blessings; I’ve also had many struggles as a single mother for 30 years. I was living in Las Vegas at the time and had raised two beautiful, smart and resilient young women. My youngest daughter was about to attend college on a basketball scholarship. I was about to become an empty nester and it all changed in an instant. I received a phone call that would change my life. Three years ago my brother, and the father of Alan and Melody, unexpectedly passed away and Alan and Melody were removed from their mother’s care after enduring years of trauma and abuse. They were 5 and 4 at that time and they were placed with a foster family in Idaho. I knew immediately I had to do everything I could to become their foster mother and then legally adopt them. I depleted what little savings I had to begin the process of fostering and adopting them. This was at the height of the pandemic and took over a year for me to finally become their foster mother and in June 2024 I was legally their mother. As a single mother I knew I needed to have family support as parenting Alan and Melody who had been through so much trauma and abuse was going to be the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do so I made the decision to move back to Wisconsin in September 2024 to be closer to family. I enrolled Alan and Melody in school and got them the professional therapists they need to process and heal from not only the abuse and trauma but also losing their father and essentially their mother. I am proud to say they are thriving. Alan is extremely smart and is in the 99 percentile nationally in all subjects. His teacher consistently gives him higher levels of schoolwork and he breezes through everything she teaches. His teacher says he is kind to everyone and makes friends easily. Melody is also extremely smart as well as being kind and helpful to her family and friends. They are doing so much better now than when they came to me three years ago. With many struggles throughout this endeavor, I have reached a point where I am in desperate need of some help. Unfortunately, my landlord has decided to sell the house I am renting and has given me 30 days to vacate. It was imperative I find a home near Alan and Melody’s school as I, and their therapists felt, the disruption of moving to a new school, making new friends and having new teachers would be detrimental to their progress. Luckily, I was able to secure a place 30 minutes away from where I currently live and the school district will allow Alan and Melody to continue to attend as long as I can get them to and from school. Because I had gone through my savings to adopt them and to move to Wisconsin, and I continue to support my two daughters, I am desperately in need of help with my first and last month’s rent as well as the deposit. My youngest daughter that plays basketball in college tore her ACL and is having surgery August 9 so I will need to take some time off as independent contractor for Amazon and Walmart to move, get Alan and Melody set for the new school year and of course take care of my daughter who is having surgery. I am blessed to have the love and support of my family and friends. We recently celebrated our 18th family reunion, and everyone commented on how happy and well-adjusted Alan and Melody have become. I am so proud of them. Thank you in advance for any financial support you can provide but more importantly for your well wishes and prayers
