Some friends and I decided to start a LFEBridge to help Michael Moran and his family catch up on bills during a time of financial distress. Michael is the sole provider for his three sons (age 10, 11 and 17) and wife Karen, who stays extremely busy homeschooling the boys and managing the household. Earlier this year, Michael was injured in a car accident, leaving him unable to perform his full-time work that requires heavy physical exertion. Michael's mother Patricia lives in the home as well, and has been out of work for more than a month because of a sudden medical issue causing constant excruciating hip pain. Michael has exhausted his savings and fallen behind on the bills. He isn't the kind of person to ask for help, but the situation warrants some assistance from the proverbial village. Michael doesn't show it, but all the stress and fatigue have taken a toll on his health. I've known Michael for more than 10 years. He and his mother hosted a legendary karaoke show at Southern Comfort, a honky tonk-style dive that closed in 2019; it was a sad day for many Atlantans! I had my own children and lost touch, but reconnected with Michael a few months ago when he started hosting a weekly karaoke gig at the Glenwood. As a mother, it's been difficult to make time for myself and have a social life. Thursday nights at the Glenwood provide a much-needed social outlet and emotional release. A few other moms (Beck, Ann and Marie) who share my karaoke addiction suggested putting together a fundraiser for one of the nicest guys ever. Michael is a devoted husband, loving father, and loyal son. He befriends people from every walk of life, and makes everyone feel accepted and comfortable. If you're a longtime Atlanta resident, you probably went to Southern Comfort at some point and experienced the joy of connecting with humanity through karaoke. Let's help this family get back on their feet!
