Our friend, and Belfast small business owner, Raymelle Moody, suffered a total loss to her catering kitchen and primary source of income during the devastating fire at the Wentworth Event Center in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 29th. While the Moody Dog food truck is still up and running without interruption in downtown Belfast, the fire destroyed all of Raymelle's catering equipment, event tents, tables, chairs, and special, sentimental pieces she had carefully collected over the years, not to mention the several hundreds of dollars in product she had stored in the fridge and dry storage. Perhaps the most devastating loss is the handwritten cookbook she had lovingly and painstakingly created over the past nine years and hoped to someday publish. She is heartbroken, not only for herself, but for the other businesses and organizations who operated out of that historic building, especially owner Kristine Wentworth. If you know Raymelle, then you know she has the grit of a hardworking Mainer combined with a heart made of pure gold. Her reputation as a chef/owner is highly regarded in Waldo County and far beyond. Over the years, Raymelle had led the charge to support other businesses or friends who have fallen on hard times. Now is a chance for our community to rally behind her and help breathe life back into the business she has worked so hard to create and expand. Through it all, Raymelle remains positive and humbled by the loving messages and support she has received from this amazing community. From the bottom of her heart, she is grateful.
