This is how we found the Deep End about a week ago. We arrived to find our home vandalized, and the outdoor seating area destroyed. The outdoor area was structurally damaged. The roof was in danger of caving in after major support posts were smashed down, along with roof panels and lighting. It breaks our hearts that there are such hateful people out there who would want to try to tear down our small business which we call home. We try our best to provide an inclusive space where everyone is safe, can express themselves, and love each other. Because of this, our business has struggled throughout the years, and we have faced many attacks like these. Eventually, these attacks start to break your soul. This happened to us during Pride month! However, we love the community we have built and we will continue fighting and loving. After hearing the news, so many of you in our community reached out asking to help or donate, so let's rebuild our outdoor space to be more fabulous and better than ever! We built our outdoor space ourselves during the most difficult time in the pandemic, we were working with a shoestring budget and recycled materials while trying to keep our staff employed and our doors open. Our goal is to build a proper outdoor space that feels welcoming and cozy for everyone to enjoy but is also sturdy and durable. These funds will go towards purchasing new materials such as roofing, lumber and lightning; and for the labor of hiring a professional builder in our community to lead this project. We are so excited to see what we can create together!
