I’m Erin Mitchell and I’m writing this on behalf of my sister Sarah Babcock. On Saturday June 24th Jamie and Sarah’s daughter Lily, started having a sore throat and massive tonsil stones. Sarah took her to Urgent Care where she tested negative for strep. They repeated the test on Monday and she was still negative. On Wednesday she woke up with a temperature of 102.6. The doctors ran more tests and she ended up being positive for mono. She started off with a rash the size of a quarter which quickly spread all over her shin. She continued with high fevers, vomiting and by Friday evening she was unable to walk. They were told these were normal symptoms of mono. On Saturday Sarah took her to the ER where they pumped her too fast full of fluids. Her kidneys were failing and she had become septic. She was taken by ambulance to Erie who made a good call by sending her to Pittsburgh just in case she needed dialysis. She was on oxygen and blood pressure medicine. Numerous cultures were done and they could find nothing. She was sent home yesterday July 11th still unable to walk. She needs 24 hour care. Jamie and Sarah do not like to ask for help but this is a trying time. He has had to take off work and Sarah is only working part time. They also have 3 other children. Let’s take some of the burden and stress off of them for a bit so bills and groceries are one less thing they have to worry about. Any amount would be appreciated. We are praying Lily’s leg starts to improve, but it is going to be a long road for her. Thank you so much.
