Hi My name is Coralee Scheeringa Parrish and I am Josh Jericho and Kyle's Mom. On June 23rd, Kyle was picking up his autistic brothers from their day program at The Haven. On the way home, a driver side-swiped them, pushed our van into oncoming traffic, which happened to be a semi-truck & then took off!! Josh and Jericho were able to exit the van, but Kyle was trapped and EMS had to cut him out. He was taken to Blake Hospital Trauma Center. Kyle suffered extensive trauma to his left leg. He lost about 3" of his femur on the road. They did a bone graft to try to fill the missing bone. He cannot bear weight or bend that knee for 3 months. He also fractured his left forearm and cannot bear weight on that for 2 months. This is why he has to stay in our living room for at least 3 months. (His bedroom is on the 2nd floor) We discovered that we were under-insured. And now, the expenses are adding up. Josh and Jericho have no consistent transportation to/from The Haven on days that Dwayne is on duty. Kyle is not working nor has medical insurance at this time. He needs equipment, supplies, prescriptions, transportation to/from PT OT MD appointments. We have made some accommodations to our house, but still need more. Dwayne is going to have to take time off of work to take Kyle to all of his appointments. The surgical follow up appointments are in Brandon; Fl. Not exactly around the corner. And this is going to put us further behind on our regular bills. Several people approached me about starting this LFEBridge. We have already received some support from BCRC, our family and friends. But their needs and recovery are going to take months, if not a year or more.
