Hey, I'm Babo aka Bailey 26 and I am raising funds for my handsome, talented, and funny partner, Syd, to get top surgery. Syd is a big part of the community in both MPLS and NOLA. They are a queer and trans songwriter fronting the band, Ghosting Merit; an amazing visual artist that has designed posters and merch in the community; has built websites for bands, authors, and nonprofits; and helped organize events at the Bat Cave (a queer DIY space in MPLS) this summer. Syd has been binding and taping down their chest since they came out as trans around 3 years ago and has been diligently researching top surgery for almost a decade. Binding is very uncomfortable for them because they are asthmatic and it constricts their lungs, and using trans-tape is very hard on their skin. Although it has been necessary for their confidence and self esteem - its not a stable solution since it only lasts several days at a time. After this surgery, Syd will no longer have to hide their chest in uncomfortable ways to feel confident and true to who they are. This is important to me because Syd's mental health and physical health is a priority, and this procedure will change their life forever by helping them be comfortable in their own skin as soon as they wake up in the morning. Syd having this procedure is a fierce commitment to loving themself. That is priceless and should be supported and celebrated!
