Hi, I’m Shea, 9 month old Super Katara’s mum. Last Monday the 24th of July, we received a very soul shaking and earth shattering diagnosis for our daughter, Bilateral Retinoblastoma. We were rushed to Westmead children’s hospital in Sydney from our home in Canberra. We were then rushed to receive treatment and therapy very soon after. By Wednesday the 26th of July our little girl was in surgery having her port inserted, eyes examined and an MRI conducted. On Thursday the 27th of July were soon found out that the initial port was not working this meant that she had to have a new port inserted on Friday the 28th of July. This means 2 surgeries in 3 days. On Friday afternoon her first round of chemo was started by Sunday afternoon round one of chemo was finished. We were then discharged to Ronald McDonald house at west mead for a few days before being cleared to come home to Canberra on Wednesday. This was very welcomed news. We have since been home for 24hrs now and the reality of life has hit. We are not people to ask for help for anything we tend to battle our fights on our own and keep moving forward however considering the circumstances we are reaching out for help to be able to keep our home in Canberra while I care for our daughter both at home and in Sydney. This money will go towards paying our rent for the next few months to ensure we still have a home to come back to at the end of every cycle. Anything big or small will definitely help my little family. Kind regards Shea - Super mum Brendan - Super Upa (Dad) Katara - Super Baby.
