G'day, my name is Dan, I am Shane Crawford's brother. On Wednesday 21 of June, Shane suffered a very bad meningitis infection on his brain, and as a result, he was rushed to Wyong hospital Emergency on Thursday morning. For many days, Shane and the medical team in Wyong ICU battled to control this life threatening infection. During this time, Shane was on a ventilator and was mostly unresponsive because of the pressure placed on his brain by the infection. I am glad to say, that Shane and the arsenal of antibiotics and medications have slowly turned the infection around, to the point that after more than a week, he was finally able to have the intubation ventilator removed, and most of the sedation medication as well. Each day now is showing a little improvement as the swelling and infection are managed. Movement and simple tasks still pose a challenge atm (although Shane is determined to push through these and recover as soon as he possibly can) As much as Shane hates the idea, we are trying to raise some much needed funds, to help Shane in the upcoming weeks and months with items that will aid in his recovery, but also to help ease some of the burden of ongoing bills etc. during this time. It is still too early to fully realise exactly how long a full recovery might take for Shane, so the purpose of this fundraiser is to help ease some of the monetary concerns, and aid him in concentrating on his recovery as much as possible. Please only chip in if you can, and only what you can afford to, if you do. Shane hates the idea of excepting charity, however this is one of those times when I truly think a hand up, not a hand out, is very much needed. Thank you all SOO much for your support and wishes. xxx
