Hello, my name is Maria Emilia Saenz, I have started this LFEBridge for my cousin and her family in Ecuador, South America. My cousin Maria Jose and her husband Andres have spent their lives fighting for ecological preservation and sharing their love of our natural resources through eco-tourism. After months of traveling, they went back to Ecuador and found out they were not only blessed with one but two babies... With this unexpected adventure, they decided to move from the city (Quito) and chase their dreams of living in the Rain Forests of Ecuador to start their family. Where they live although beautiful also is remote and does not have the best accessible health care or health care services. This delayed Luana's diagnosis and after having to contract a private ambulance to take the twins back to the city, her condition worsened as her little body was working overtime. Medical bills even in the USA are hard to cover with or without insurance. Being first-time parents comes with its challenges so having a 2 for 1 deal can also be added pressure. *The following is written by Maria Jose and Andres* Unfortunately, In just three days, what started as a simple earache and fever ended with lung surgery due to severe pneumonia caused by an aggressive strain of bacteria known as pneumococcus. Although our 2-and-a-half-year-old baby girl successfully underwent the surgery, she is currently intubated and in an induced coma as her little body fights against sepsis and tries to regain control of her lungs. Despite having insurance, we have a very basic plan that reached its limit on the first day of hospitalization. We have been in the ICU for a week now, and we don't know how much longer we will have to stay here. Her twin sister Manua started showing the same symptoms as Luana, but thanks to the experience we went through, we were able to act much faster, and Manua has already been discharged from the hospital. That is why we humbly reach out to your generosity and compassion in this very difficult time. Any donation, no matter how small, will be received with infinite gratitude and will be directly used to cover the medical costs we are facing. If you are unable to contribute financially, we kindly ask you to share our story with those who might be willing to help.In moments like this, we realize the strength that lies in human solidarity and compassion. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us save Luana, the toughest little girl you'll ever know.
