My name is Snejana (Sneezy), I am starting this campaign for my God Daughter Sapphirra and her parents. On October 15, 2015 when I was getting ready for work, I have received a text message saying that my friend is getting an emergency C-Section. She had a blood clot that lead to a Placental Rupture, which required her to have an emergency procedure. We were confused and afraid. They took baby Sapphirra away right after birth is because she was born with no heartbeat after sustaining a HIE (Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy) is the brain injury caused by oxygen deprivation to the brain. Asphyxia lasted too long, and some brain tissue was destroyed. She also, had numerous seizures in the first week, which prompted the doctors to sedate her on seizure medicine.We were confused, and lost. Maybe from not understanding of what happened in the last 10 hours… Sapphirra was transferred to a bigger hospital where she can go under Cooling Blanket Treatment (Treatment that is researched to reverse brain damage caused by an injury).The 3 days on the cooling blanket treatment seemed to be long and foggy! We didn’t know what to anticipate and waited. After about a week, the doctors did not give very good prognosis, and didn’t think there was anything they could do, so the parents made a decision to transfer their baby to a more advanced Seattle Children’s Hospital. When you can give your child at least any chance to survive and see life, they took the chance. The MRI results showed severe brain damage, and doctors were only able to give prognosis based on what they have previously seen. We still wanted to give her a chance. When they decided to take her breathing tube out, it was a very dark day…no one but us had hope on her survival! The doctors took me outside the hospital room and said that it might be “couple more” hours. The time stopped again. That little light of hope seemed to dim and get darker. Hours seemed like days….and they turned into days, that little miracle kept breathing on her own and surviving! After a couple of days, there was no doubt she was here with us in this world! The doctors were confused!!! Almost a week later, they were able to take baby miracle home! Because of a Brain Injury that Sapphirra has sustained during the birth trauma, she is not yet able to swallow and 24-Hour Care is required by her mom and dad, which includes constant suction(so she doesn’t get aspiration from fluid going into her lungs), scheduled feeding tube feeding, massages, and constant appointments to the doctors.This is a very hard time for this family, but they want to give their baby a chance, just like any parent would! I started this campaign because there is a chance for Sapphirra to get breathing treatments, but they are costly and not covered by regular insurance. Its called Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. It helps brain to promote healing and also better breathing and lungs, because she would be taking in pure oxygen. If we get blessed by your donations, we may be able to buy the machine used.In addition, Sapphirras medical insurance covers only 8 recovery therapy massages and by Grace of God, a nurse was able to offer us couple more free sessions. Her massages cost $100 per massage per hour. For a family with one person working, two children it can get very hard.
