As much as I don’t like to be another person asking for help, especially on a public platform like this, unfortunately, there are times in life when we need to. For our family, this is one of those times. We have two aging dachshunds who we love more than words can explain. If you are an animal lover you probably understand this more than most. Our little girl, the princess of the house, our little Sadie Bearcat, has been diagnosed with cancer. Cutaneous t-cell lymphoma to be exact. This is EXTREMELY heartbreaking for us. And it has, unfortunately, come after 4 years of non-stop vet bills due to having aging fur babies. Our little boy Simon, who is 15 now, almost died from pancreatitis at the beginning of 2024., It took us a hospital stay and 6 months plus of meds, special food, and vet visits to bring him back to good health. The great news is that he is healthier than ever. The bad news is towards the end of his recovery Sadie began to have more health issues. We thought it was every from allergies to vitiligo. And by we, I mean two different vets along with my wife and I. From mid-2024 to around May of 2024, we racked up significant vet bills trying to determine the problem, while also keeping Simon healthy with meds, prescription food, and somewhat frequent vet visits which continue. At this point, my primary vet was out of answers for Sadie and it was off the dermatologist. And at the dermatologist, our worst fears were realized. CANCER…… Sadie is now undergoing treatment at the Veterinary Cancer Group and is responding well. She is an amazing girl and a fighter. We want to continue keeping her with us as long as we can and as long as she is happy and living the best she can, but we need help. I didn’t necessarily want to do this. I’m not big on asking for help. I’m a figure it out and solve the problem myself kind of guy… along with my wife of course. But we find ourselves riddled with debt, maxed or near maxed credit cards, and a long journey of treatment and care for both our aging family fur babies. This also is an issue because work for me has been sparse since the pandemic and I have yet to recover. And most of the work I do or have done has gone towards vet bills and debt from vet bills and recovering from the pandemic. And now my time for work has been limited due to someone needing to be home more often to care for Sadie and Simon. If there ever was a time we need some help….this is it. Thank you, Justin and Karen
