Hi my name is Katherinne, my brother is Juan Gamez. Some of you may know him from the documentary "They Call Us Monters" where he shared his story alongside two of his friends. My brother was sentenced to 15 years to life when he was only 16 years old and has been incarcerated for over 11 years. While being incarcerated my brother committed his life to rehabilitating himself and turned his life around. He successfully completed numerous classes to improve himself, furthered his education and received two Associates Degrees. He dedicated himself to helping better his community and giving back by facilitating numerous classes. Last year due to good behavior he was given the opportunity to go up for parole. Thankfully, he was found suitable and was cleared to come home! Instead, due to his immigration status, he was transferred to an immigration detention center and has been there for the last 6 months fighting deportation. At his latest hearing on 7/14, we got the greatest news! Juan was granted bond! This means that he will finally be able to reunite with us after so many years apart. We will finally be able to have a meal together, spend Christmas together, and be a family once again. Juan's bond was set at $20,000 by the immigration judge. Juan is unable to be released until the bond is paid in full. Please help us by donating anything you can in order to get my brother home.
