Aloha mai, I am starting this for a dear friend and sister in Christ of mine, Rachel Doo. If you have ever had the pleasure of meeting Rachel you know that she is a beautiful woman inside and out and she will give the shirt off her back for someone in need. She is a nurturing mother, devoted wife and MY bonus sister In September 2024 Rachel started experiencing exacerbating symptoms- headaches, arm weakness, numbness, tingling, brain fog, nausea. It took months for doctors to diagnose her with Jugular Vein Occlusion and Cerebral Venous Congestion which caused intracranial hypertension or basically too much pressure in her brain. She had a stent placed to remedy the occlusion and hopefully correct the pressure issues. Unfortunately doing so exposed the damage that the long term high pressures in her brain caused and resulted in a new pain and cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) leak into her sinus limiting her from sitting up and walking. After being bed bound for months, an ENT doctor in Hawaii tried to explore the leak but was “unable to find it.” Which leads us to where we are now… seeking care from specialists in Denver, Colorado. Due to her limitations, Rachel has been unable to work at this time causing hardship to her family. She had a consult with a specialist in Colorado who found not 1, not 2, but 3 leaks in her skull and scheduled surgical repair for the end of July. As you can imagine, being unable to work and multiple trips to the mainland for treatment in addition to medical bills accumulating, it has been a financially hard time for her & her family. This is why we’re here. We as a family can come together and help support this family in their hard times and as a village, come together for Olive, Rachel & Adrian. Rachel celebrates her 28th birthday on July 2nd and it would be a sweet gift for those of you who can, to assist in funding her journey and making ends meet. They plan to travel to Denver from July 30th to August 9th with her family and stay at an air bnb. Funds raised would help to support her travel, accommodations, & expenses as well as helping them pay their rent, COBRA, and accumulating medical expenses.  If you’re unable to support financially, Rachel & her ‘ohana would be equally as grateful for your heartfelt prayers! Our God is capable of miracles and He has proven Himself faithful in this journey over and over again! Mahalo nui for your time and consideration!
