After returning from serving with them, we are committed to continue helping the Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf and their greatest need is a generator. Electricity is unstable and power outages are common, as we experienced several times while in Jamaica. As you can imagine, this can be especially scary for a deaf child, since they rely on their sight to find and communicate with each other. Please consider a small donation to help us reach our goal and fill this need. Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf (JCSD) is a residential school providing special classes and assistance to Deaf children, which the majority of public schools in Jamaica do not offer. There is no government funding available so they rely on faithful donors to feed, house, and teach the students, who range from two to twenty years old. The school was established in 1985 and has been at their current site for 23 years, where they continue to expand their classrooms allowing for additional vocational training. JCSD's mission is "to develop a well-integrated Christian person, morally upright, emotionally mature, and ready for the outside world." For more information, visit the JCSD website.
