Introduction: Dear friends and family, We hope this message finds you well. This page is being set up by Peter’s children, Rachel, Sarah, and Cameron Stacy, and we are reaching out to you today with a heavy heart and a sense of urgency. Our Dad, Peter Stacy, has recently undergone emergency open heart surgery. This unexpected medical crisis has left us in a difficult and overwhelming situation, and we are humbly asking for your support. Background: Wednesday, July 15th, 2024, started as a normal day for our Dad. He woke up in Tallahassee, Florida, made a coffee, and went to work at Mission BBQ. While at work, he became weak in his legs and asked someone to help him sit down. Only getting worse and sensing the urgency of the situation, Peter requested someone to call 9-1-1 and paramedics quickly arrived on the scene. Peter was rushed to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital (TMH) where they discovered that his upper aorta had ruptured. At this point, Peter's heart was not functioning and TMH was not equipped to perform the emergency aorta dissection surgery, so he had to be airlifted to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. During this time, we were alerted of our Dad's critical situation and we were informed by nurses at TMH to prepare our final goodbyes to him. Peter was transported via ambulance (the weather was too severe to be airlifted) to Shands Hospital where Rachel and Sarah were waiting to see him and Cameron was flying in from Oregon. Dr. John R Spratt and his team began operating at 6:00 pm. Thanks to the skilled medical team at Shands Hospital, he successfully underwent the 7-hour surgery and has been in the ICU with the support of Rachel, Sarah, and Cameron. The Financial Challenge: While we celebrate the successful surgery and continue down the road to recovery, we now face the overwhelming burden of medical expenses. The costs associated with our Dad’s intensive care, surgical procedures, hospital stay, medications, future rehabilitation, and living accomodations are substantial and beyond what our family can manage alone. Despite having health insurance, the deductibles, copayments, and various uncovered expenses are already piling up. How You Can Help: We understand that not everyone may be in a position to offer financial assistance, but any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in our journey toward healing. Your support can provide hope, relief, and peace of mind during this challenging time. 1. Financial Donations: By donating to our fundraiser, you can help alleviate the financial burden on our family and ensure my father receives the best possible care. Your generous contributions will directly contribute to covering medical bills, necessary medications, follow-up consultations, and ongoing therapy sessions. 2. Spread the Word: Sharing our LFEBridge campaign with your social network is another way to make a meaningful impact. Your voice can reach others who may be willing to lend a helping hand or share the fundraiser with their own network. 3. Emotional Support: Your messages of encouragement, prayers, and positive thoughts are invaluable to us. Peter has really enjoyed knowing that we is not alone in this battle and that we have a support system behind us will provide immeasurable strength and hope. Conclusion: If you have the pleasure of knowing our Dad, you know he is full of love, generosity, and compassion. We are still on the road to recovery, and we firmly believe that with your kindness, generosity, and collective support, we can overcome the financial obstacles that stand in the way of my father's recovery. Our family will forever be grateful for your help, and we will keep you updated on my father's progress every step of the way. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering our plea and being part of our journey to healing. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a profound difference in our father’s life. With gratitude, Rachel, Sarah, and Cameron
