My name is Aynsley and I am raising financial support for my dad, Pete. As some of you may know, my dad has had some significant health issues recently. In the spring of 2024, he was admitted to the hospital with COVID-19. We are so lucky and blessed to say he recovered from COVID, but left the hospital with a diabetes diagnosis and many medical expenses. As the pandemic improved and my dad got his diabetes under control, he was able to return to his full-time job at Target where he's worked for the past 6 years and is loved dearly. Fast forward to spring of 2024, Dad took a serious fall down a flight of stairs. He was hospitalized with a C5 fracture (broken neck) and was not allowed to return to work for 10 weeks. Finally, on July 9th, he was excited to get back to his routine and we were again, blessed. His neck healed with no further complications. This past week, he began feeling a little unwell. He believed it to be a side effect of his insulin shot but it quickly became clear that this was a more serious illness. He was taken by ambulance to St. Catherine's and a severe infection was found in his gallbladder and had spread into his blood. They have to keep him hospitalized and wait to treat his gallbladder until his blood infection is under control. My dad has been working tirelessly at Target since I went to college in 2016. He never takes a sick day, and when he does, it's to help others (often me) when we need him. He's in the middle of getting his third master's degree from Post University online. I am so proud of him and all he continues to accomplish. Even at almost 73 years old, he brings vibrance, enthusiasm, and positivity to work, school, family, and friends. Between his living and medical expenses, and helping me when he can, I know that he is feeling the weight of missing so much work. I am continuing to work my full-time job and pick up any extra hours that I can around visiting my dad in the hospital, but any additional support would mean a lot to him. I want him to feel at ease and know that we will be able to cover any and all expenses while he takes the time he needs to heal. Any funds collected will be saved to pay toward medical bills incurred, and then to pay Pete's general monthly expenses while he is missing his income from his regular work. Once we have an update on his condition and when he may be able to return to his job, I will post an update.
