Friends and family of Paula, We're Maddie and Sauha, friends of Paula's who love her very much. We're reaching out to you today to share Paula's story and ask for your support during a very challenging time. If you know Paula you know she is the most vibrant, resilient woman who would give anyone the shirt off her back. Paula's cancer journey started in 2024 when she was diagnosed with oropharynx cancer, affecting her neck and throat. Her resiliency is being challenged again as she has received the devastating news that she has stage 4 lung cancer. We are rallying behind Paula to help her overcome cancer once again. Paula's medical journey since 2024 has been filled with setbacks and complications. Her treatment timeline includes: March to June 2024: Paula underwent 35 radiation sessions, five days a week, along with seven chemotherapy sessions to combat the oropharynx cancer. She experienced painful complications from these treatments. These included: teeth removal, shingles, ulcers, abscesses, pneumonia, and infections in her throat, ears, and spine As a result of the infections Paula required a feeding tube to help with eating and constant antibiotics Unfortunately, cancer is not just a medical battle; it affects every aspect of your life including financially. As Paula focuses on recovery and preps for further treatment she is unable to work. Paula’s mounting costs are understandably very stressful for her. We want Paula to be able to focus her energy on what matters, her recovery. Here are the ways we’re hoping to help Paula: Housing: Paula's housing situation is currently not permanent, she needs to find a new place to live by September 2024. Your contributions will help her secure a safe and stable living environment during this critical time. Medical costs: Despite having medical coverage, not all of Paula's treatment expenses are fully covered. Car payments: Maintaining transportation is essential for Paula's medical appointments and daily activities. Everyday groceries and living costs: As Paula navigates through her treatment and recovery, everyday expenses such as groceries, utilities, and other Taking care of Bligh: Paula could use extra help with taking care of her sweet dog, Bligh. Unsurprisingly throughout this, Paula has remained her energetic, positive self. Showing courage every step of the way. We’re hoping that Paula’s unwavering love for her friends and community can be shown back to her.
