My brother-in-law, Ray Andrew C. Bantugan, or Pastor Doi to many, is one of the kindest and most passionate people committed to sharing the love of Jesus through his band, BoughtbyBlood, a Christian hardcore/metal band. He has organized many live events over the years through his main ministry, MoshWithJesus, where he has openly shared the Word of God to crowds of young hardcore fans who may not know Jesus. Over the years, we believe that many wayward youths have found direction in their lives through his ministry. In their last Outreach about a month ago, as they were loading up their equipment, the heavy lifting caused something to snap in his back, which eventually resulted in severe back pain in the following days after the gig. After seeking medical help, it was found that he, once again, has slipped discs. What happened 13 years ago has re-occurred which he was able to recover from through physical therapy. Only this time it is more severe due to disc herniation which causes debilitating pain 24/7. Doctors specializing in Neurology and Spine Surgery have all ruled out therapy as a lasting solution. In fact, the last couple of sessions have aggravated his condition and increased his pain. Doctors have very strongly recommended Spinal Surgery. His MRI result shows "Discs desiccation and posterior annular tears in the L4-L5 and L5-S1. At L5-S1, posterocentral/ paracentral superiorly directed disc migration intending the thecal sac and right descending S1 nerve and compressing the descending S1 nerve." In other words, until he is able to have this surgery, Doi will mostly be laying in bed to alleviate the pain and is only able to sit for 5 minutes before laying down again. As you can imagine, for a man like Doi, who is very active and enjoys helping his parents at the farm, this has been quite depressing and discouraging. Praise the Lord as he is learning to look to the Lord for hope and to friends, family and kind-hearted people for help and encouragement, one day at a time. As only some may know, both he and my sister work as freelancers, and the lack of medical insurance is one of their challenges in this line of work. In order for him to get back on his feet once again, he has to undergo the recommended surgery, which alone will cost PHP 500,000. We are hoping to raise at least PHP 700,000 (USD 12,800) to include hospital bills and post-operation medical care. Once we have the funding, they will be able to schedule the surgery immediately. We humbly knock at your hearts to extend help and be part of raising this fund for him, it will be a huge help for our family, and we can only pray for the Lord to bless you for your generosity. Again, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you so very much! Every donation, small or large, is very much appreciated. It all adds up. God bless you, and please include us in your prayers as we go through these difficult and challenging times.
