Hi, my name is Lauren and our amazing friend Xochitle was recently diagnosed with uterine cancer. On May 11th Xochitle went to the ER thinking she had kidney stones, which she did not. The ER Dr. recommended to follow up with her primary care Dr. for further testing. She was told she had gallstones, fibroids and possibly a cyst in her uterus. First she would need her gallbladder removed and then a visit to the gynecologist. A biopsy was done and on June 20th Xochitle was diagnosed with endometrioid adenocarcinoma. Since then she was referred to an oncologist and several other tests and scans have been done to prepare her for surgery. Surgery is scheduled for this upcoming Monday, 7/25. A full hysterectomy will be done to remove the the cancer and then we will know what stage and grade it is. Best case scenario is the surgery will remove everything and Xochitle can begin to heal- worst case scenario, chemotherapy and possible radiation treatment will be needed. Xochitle is the sweetest, kindest, most loving person I know. She, without hesitation, always puts her friends and family first and has always been supportive. It’s our turn to support and continue to love our friend during this trying time. Over these last weeks she has accrued several thousands dollars worth of medical bills despite having health insurance. Please keep our dear friend in your thoughts and prayers.
