Hi World, I'm Olivia a 62-year-old widowed mother to 3 sons, Matthew, John-Paul and Charlie and a daughter Stacey as well as a grandmother to 5 amazing grandchildren Daisy, Poppy, Tallulah, Rhia and Eljas and I need your help. In 2024, my life took an unexpected turn when I received the devastating news of my rectal cancer diagnosis. As someone who has devoted the last 15 years to caring for patients in the healthcare field, I never imagined that I would be the one needing life-saving treatment. The journey since then has been incredibly challenging, as I underwent colostomy and the removal of my bowels. Coping with this life-changing surgery has deeply affected my confidence and way of life. Yet, despite the hardships and the additional burden of the pandemic that affected us all, I found the strength to persevere especially being told that I was now cancer free. However, earlier this year following examinations, it was revealed that an additional tumor had been overlooked, or perhaps misinterpreted as scar tissue by the GPs. The only available treatment option here in the UK is a total hysterectomy, which would be a complete removal of all my genitalia, including my bladder requiring me to undergo a urostomy in addition to my current colostomy. The prospect of living with both a colostomy bag and a urostomy bag is overwhelming, and my greatest desire is to cherish the precious moments with my children and grandchildren for as many years as possible in dignity. However, there is a chance that I can live life without this surgery and cure me from cancer with immunotherapy and radiotherapy with a US cancer treatment center called Hope4Cancer (Oasis of Hope). But I need to be quick as the longer I wait the riskier it is for me and my cancer to spread. I don't have the financial means and since my latest diagnosis have not been able to work where paying my rent, bills and living costs have stretched me considerably. But, I am hopeful - with your help I can pursue this lifeline, regain my health and return to having a full life with my family and job.
