On behalf of Officer Jesus Garcia’s Family, the Guttenberg PBA Local 88 started this page to assist them with their medical bills and any accommodations needed for his care. Officer Garcia was not only an accredited police officer, he was also the Commander of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Honor Guard and a member of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Special Response Team. Here is a message from Officer Jesus Garcia’s daughter, Lauren: Hi, my name is Lauren García and I am Jesus Garcia’s daughter. My father Jesus García was diagnosed with ALS and dermatomyositis in 2024. For those that do not know my father — he is a loving husband, an incredible father and a grandfather. He is my hero and watching him over the years I’ve seen how selfless, brave and authentic he is. He is who I am to be. The biggest lesson my dad has taught me was to always follow your dreams because you are capable of anything you put your mind too. He showed me this by following his dream and becoming a police officer. When he became a police officer, it was like he finally understood his calling and he felt so fulfilled by helping others and creating a family with his brothers in blue. It was a thrill to watch how he followed his dream and it has been painstakingly hard to see how this disease has taken so much away from him. Dealing with ALS is not easy. Not only has it taken a toll on our family’s mental health, it is also extremely costly due to my dad’s needs and the accommodations needed for the disease. To know my father is to love him. He was always surrounded by so much love and I hope that if my father has helped you or been your friend in any way, you will keep us in your prayers.
