On Friday, October 23rd Nick's wife Misty received a phone call no wife wants to receive.. At around 10:30PM "Nick" (Nerim Vraniqi) was closing up the restaurant and developed what he called "the worst headache" of his life. He called Misty to let her know what was going on before quickly deciding to call 911. Nick was taken by ambulance to Denton Regional Hospital where he was told that he had indeed suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and was lucky to be alive. He was immediately transported to Plano where he is currently in NSICU. On Saturday October 24th, a team of surgeons performed an Angiogram and packed it with platinum coils to prevent blood flow, a procedure that took 4 grueling hours.Nick has served our Country as a Marine with the United States Marine Corp and thought he had Veterans benefits to cover his medical expenses.. But come Monday morning, he learned differently. He was informed the only way he could be considered for health benefits by the VA was if he "made an appointment to set up a primary care Doctor". Remember, he is lying in a hospital bed in NSICU.. After speaking with several Supervisors at the VA and learning there was no possibility of them helping with the expenses, Misty set up a payment plan with the hospital. Nick is expected to be hospitalized for at least 2 weeks and his medical bill for just 2 days is already in excess of $300,000.Nick is a Husband, Father to 3 children, (one teen and 2 in elementary school) and also a local business owner, owning and operating Nick's Italian Restaurant in Pilot Point. He consistently goes out of his way to provide his food and services for local benefits, schools, churches etc. All of the proceeds from this account will go directly to Nick and Misty and will help lift part of the financial burden they are facing.
