Hi, my name is Lora and I'm seeking financial assistance for individualized residential psychiatric treatment for my son Ricky. He has been stricken with a serious debilitating brain disease. A little about Ricky... he was once a normal teenager with goals and aspirations. Ricky was a good student, stellar athlete, vocalist, songwriter, and performer. He adored life, family, and friends. He was in the midst of planning which college he would attend as many colleges were interested in his abilities. Then poof, it was all gone in one day, with no warning or indication that something was going wrong with his health. We have now struggled for over 17 years seeking answers and professional assistance. He has the inability to think clearly at times, lacks emotion, the desire to connect, depression, severe anxiety, hospitalizations for severe psychosis, unable to perform daily tasks, severe memory loss, confusion at times, and prefers isolation most of the time. We have seen numerous doctors and tried many types of medication with little improvement due mostly to the restrictions of insurance and what they will pay for. I have exhausted every financial resource I have. We are seeking additional evidence-based therapies, testing, and comprehensive quality care. There are evidence-based treatments and therapies available and with your help, we can make an immense difference in his life and our family's lives. I pray you find it in your heart to help him love life again. Any monetary contributions will be greatly appreciated and help Ricky get the treatment he needs. Please share this with your family, friends, and network. We will keep you posted on his journey and progress. Thank you for your time and concern. Watching your child suffer for so many years is the most difficult thing a parent can endure the feeling of pure helplessness. Ricky deserves and desires to succeed and love life again! "Ask and it will be given to you: seek, and you will find: knock and it will be opened to you”: Matthew 7:7.
