Hi friends and family. Last Thursday we had to call an ambulance to take Chantel to the Emergency. She was found in severe distress and required immediate medical intervention. She is still in the hospital. Chantel has a massive tumor covering her entire torso also putting her breathing, heart rate and ability to be mobile in severe distress. She was moved to three different hospitals in an attempt to stabilize her to prepare for the surgery that will have lifelong effects. Her surgery is scheduled for Monday, July 24. Since we are in a different city we have to get a hotel to be close and arrange day-to-day parking. Chantel has been struggling with her physical health for a long time. She was diagnosed with a mental health condition while in the hospital. We are relieved to have her medicated to help her cope with what is to come. The downfall of her health has lowered her quality of life dramatically. We need to gather supplies to prepare her home to be suitable when she can return. She has zero income due to her mental and physical health which has affected her ability to be employed or access OW/ODSP. We will attempt again to her get on ODSP but this process will take time. Due to her deteriorating health situation, her son Joshua has been in the care of our Mother. Chantel is also in a housing crisis. She is due to be evicted in the coming month because she was unable to stabilize her situation or reach out for help. We are trying to get support in an attempt to save her housing and to stay housed as you can imagine she will require this. We have attempted intakes for other supports through Indigenous agencies but we have yet to be supported. We need help. We don't normally reach out for it but Chantel is finally letting us in and our family knows how important housing and medical stability is. We pray to the creator every day for Chantel to get well and appreciate any kind of support during this time if you are able. We remain dedicated to helping her move on from this and to rebuild her life so she can live life in a good way and allow us to help her. Chi Miigwech Samms/Dolson Family
