Hi, my name is Alayna and I am fundraising for 44 year old single mom, Angela, from northern Michigan. She has been fighting breast cancer for seven years. My mom is a kind and compassionate woman, nurse, sister, friend, daughter, and aunt. She was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer in 2015. She did strong chemotherapy, lost her hair, and all of her strength. She also had a bilateral mastectomy. Since she was so young, they told her she only had a three percent chance of it coming back.A year later, the lump came back near the area of the first one. She had a lumpectomy and we thought the cancer was gone. In the spring of 2024, she started getting indigestion. After months of ER visits and scans, we discovered she had a blockage in her stomach and duodenum. The blockage was caused from lymph nodes and inflammation. She was told the cancer had spread to her peritoneum. Fluid started building in her abdomen. At that time, she was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer. This prevented her from eating properly and getting nutrition. She lost 30 pounds due to this. After they placed a stent and started her on hormone therapy, she seemed to be doing better. In the spring of 2024, she started seeing the fluid build up again. She spent more time in the hospital where they gave her two months to live. My mom went home and did more research knowing this couldn’t be it. She decided that she needed to clean up her diet even more. She has already had chemo and felt that it would not be beneficial to her health. After taking supplements, following a strict diet, and putting all of her faith in God, she healed herself from the cancer. Then, this spring of 2024, she started seeing the fluid build up again. She decided it would be best to get a second opinion, so we traveled to the City of Hope in Chicago. She had a pet scan and was told she only had cancer in her abdominal lining. Which is truly a miracle. The doctors are very optimistic that this new hormone therapy that they put her on will work. She is currently on day eleven of treatment and thinks it may be working because the fluid has started to slow down. These last few months have been very difficult for her. She has had ten paracentesis to remove the fluid, as she has been having it removed every week. The fluid has taken away her quality of life. It causes difficulty walking, talking, eating, drinking, and sleeping. She has lost even more weight. We have to travel three hours away to Detroit to have it drained. My mom has not been able to work for the last few months. She has exhausted her savings and has no other income. My mom has always been a pillar of strength during mine and my families hard times and now it’s our turn to show her the love and support that she deserves. Please consider making a donation to help her during this challenging journey. Even if you’re unable to contribute, sharing this campaign with your friends and family would be greatly appreciated. She has so much faith and God has kept her through this whole time. She knows God will keep his promises and see her through this too. We need all the support we can get. Anything will help during these hard times.
