Hello! My good friend Ms. Helen has been looking for housing for some time but has not been able to find the right location for her and her grandson. With the financial and emotional toll of keeping temporary housing, trying to work with an inattentive city section 8 office, getting adequate food and clothing for her and her grandson, catching buses to and from work and visiting him, and volunteering her time to help others (she's volunteered at Jubilee Soup Kitchen in Uptown for 30 years), keeping up with all of the costs of living is incredibly taxing. We are hoping to use this fundraiser as a resource to relieve some burden from Ms. Helen as she continues to search for stable and safe housing. Our current goal is $5,000, which will go toward funding a downpayment on a new home for Ms. Helen and her grandson, initial rent payments, food, transport, and other costs of living during this transitional period. Additionally, if anyone would like to share local Pittsburgh resources that are geared toward housing assistance or any other kind of mutual aid, that would be much appreciated.
