Hi!  As most of you probably know, I’m Morgan. I have been struggling with a lot of medical issues as of lately. Some of my current diagnoses are: Cerebral Palsy, Gastroparesis, Hypovelmic POTS, Crohns Disease, PTSD, and Anxiety. Due to more than one of these diagnoses, I am also an ambulatory wheelchair user. With everything happening with my health, it’s been becoming increasingly difficult to go out and do things on my own because of my health. Going out on my own can be especially scary, due to my passing out episodes from my POTS. In conversation with my doctors, we believe a service dog could be an amazing way to give me more independence, and a constant companion, while staying safe. At this time, I am looking into adopting a dog from a reputable local breeder. After adoption, I would then take my dog to a private dog trainer, who would (ideally board) and train my dog to be a service dog. Obviously for tasks that include needing me there, I’d be involved in training as well. My dog will provide me with a medical alert to help detect when i’m going to flare up/faint AND will help me with even more tasks that are becoming more difficult to do when i’m on my own. My service dog would also be an amazing way to help me cope through my anxiety and PTSD, with things like deep pressure therapy, crowd control, etc. Additionally, my service dog would also keep me company during my hospitalizations. The cost of a service dog can be thousands, as so much training, upkeep, and so much more goes into having a service dog. I’m setting my goal to $5000. I am trying to save up to contribute as well, but that is a lot to save on my own. If you could help in any way possible to help me get this lifetime companion for independence, I would be so appreciative and forever thankful.
