Mo is so grateful for your generosity so far but is still short of her goal and she could still really use our help. Recovery takes time. Please read below and consider donating any amount. Thank you! My dear friend, Maureen Moore also known as Mo, has been a vital member of our community for over 20 years, among other contributions to our community, she volunteered for many years to protect our precious groundwater, successfully leading the fundraising that saved rare temperate rainforest land here. A supporter of education and youth, Mo has been tutoring our teens as well as young adults. More recently she’s been involved in harm reduction and said she wants Salt Spring people at risk to know that elders care about them. Many of us appreciate her generosity. Unfortunately, her recent stroke has left her in need of help herself due to a sudden loss of income. Since the stroke, she’s been advised to rest from her brain and physical work so she can avoid another stroke, recover, and resume her normal life. As Mo’s paid work is primarily academic and she still has cost of living expenses this has created financial hardship for her. Not only has the stroke limited her daily activity and personal enjoyment, it has placed her in a precarious financial situation. She would much rather help others but as her friend, I convinced her to accept help from the community she has supported for decades. Her best hope for complete recovery is now. I hope we can raise 10 thousand dollars to reduce her financial stress and allow her time to heal until she is able to work again. Let’s help this dear elder who has given so much time and energy on our behalf. Any contribution you can make however small will be gratefully received. No one should have to face the risk of losing their home in their 70s. Let’s take care of our elder community member. Thank you!
