Update: Wow, we can't thank everyone enough for your kindness and generosity. It truly means so much. Miranda has begun her treatment and had her second round of chemotherapy on Thursday, August 3rd. Unfortunately, she had a major reaction which required her to stay overnight in the hospital. Thankfully, she is feeling much better but they will be modifying the type of chemotherapy she will now receive. Because of you all, we were able to alleviate some of the financial burden from this hospital stay. While she still has a long road ahead, we are hopeful and appreciative of the wonderful people who have continued to send her love and support. --- Hello! My name is Jessica and I am one of Miranda's best friends. I am creating this fundraiser on her behalf. At the age of 23, Miranda was diagnosed with triple negative invasive ductal carcinoma (TNBC) caused by the genetic mutation, BRCA1. To become a cancer survivor, Miranda underwent: 16 rounds of chemo, a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction, and a salpingectomy, along with a variety of medications, tests, and scans. Since 2018, Miranda has been monitoring her health every 6 months to avoid reoccurrence. Unfortunately, in June 2024 at the age of 28 and just 4 months shy of remission, Miranda was diagnosed with a localized reoccurrence of TNBC caused by her same genetic mutation, BRCA1. This time, her treatment plan is even more vigorous to combat her aggressive disease. Over the next few months, Miranda will undergo: 12 rounds of chemo spanning 12 weeks, 52 weeks of immunotherapy (Keytruda), another double mastectomy to remove any remaining breast tissue and implants (followed by reconstruction sometime in late 2024), 5-6 weeks of daily radiation, along with a variety of medications, tests, and scans. With this new treatment plan, there are a few things Miranda is fortunate enough to have access to that didn't exist during her first fight with cancer. These new advancements, combined with standard treatment as a whole, are both great steps in the medical field and extremely expensive. During her long and costly journey, Miranda will be unable to fulfill the demands of her full-time job causing a decrease in her regular income. Any help you're able and willing to provide to help Miranda win this fight is truly appreciated!
