I was diagnosed with Stage IV, ALK+ non-small cell lung cancer just this last May. It was just as big of a shock to me as it was everyone else. I have no history of lung cancer in my family and am also just 38 years old. Even thought I am constantly overwhelmed by my emotions every day I am also overwhelmed with support from every one of my friends. I wouldn't be able to fight as hard or be as healthy as I am without all of you. You said to let me know if I ever need anything and I'm letting you know and here's how you can help! I have excellent medical care provided by the Charleston VA and many talented MUSC doctors. All of my medications and treatments are completely covered and I cannot be more grateful for not havig to worry about paying for major medical expenses! However, I am not just stopping at that. There are other cancer protocols that I am incorporating with the traditional medical treatments I am currently receiving. All of these other cancer protocols/treatments are out of pocket expenses and what I need help with. Please donate whatever you can, and know whatever funds I don't use for my personal treatment, I will donate to ALKPositive.org, a patient-driven organization, dedicated to improving the life expectancy and quality of life for ALK-Positive patients worldwide, like myself.
