Hi, My name is Luke and we're fundraising for my best friend Luke Scrimshaw aka Scrimmy. On 26th January 2024 Luke had a seizure and was rushed to Royal Bournemouth Hospital. After extensive scans Luke was diagnosed with Brain Arteriovenous Malformations (AVM). Luke's life had changed instantly and now has Seizures often. Arteriovenous Malformations are rare and affect about 1 in 100,000 people. Luke has been seen by specialists in Southampton and London who have both come to the conclusion they cannot operate because of where it is located in his brain. The AVM could rupture and bleed with any seizure which would be fatal to Luke. The only thing Luke can have is Stereotactic Radiosurgery to shrink the AVM in his brain and hopefully eliminate the risk of a bleed. To get this treatment as soon as possible for Luke to give him the best chance we need to go private. We've been in touch with the relevant hospitals and doctors and have been told to cover Luke completely should he need intensive care after the procedure will be £20,000. This will cover all treatment, surgery and aftercare and most importantly have Luke seen quickly. NHS waiting lists are long and time may not be on our side. For anyone that knows Luke knows he will hate this and would never ask for this help so that's why we are doing it for him. If anyone can donate no matter how big or small it would be greatly appreciated.
