Hi my name is Tina and I’m raising funds for a friend of mine who recently had all of her current savings stolen through an email scam. After a very painful marriage breakup Linda has been scrimping and saving everything she has to put together enough money to build a small house on her block of land in mandurah. The build has been going for three years and Linda has been putting everything she has into progress payments as the builder has required them. Last week her builder emailed her an invoice for one of the final progress payments. It was an invoice for $16,500. This email was intercepted by a scammer who replicated the invoice and changed the bank account details. Linda unknowingly paid the entire content of her savings ($16500) into the scammers account. It had taken her so long to save up that amount, she has been left shocked and heart broken. She told me she feels violated and stupid. But we know she is not stupid, she has become victim to a very cunning form of evil that causes great distress to many good people. Linda works hard as a cafeteria lady for racehorse trainers and riders, she gets up very early on these dark cold mornings sometimes only selling a couple of burgers on the quiet days but always makes herself available to be there regardless. Her friends and I from the Lark Hill racehorse training complex and others from the racing community want to show Linda that we do care and we don’t want this awful thing that has happened to her stop her from fulfilling her dream of moving into her own little home.
