Our dear friend Lauren needs us right now. She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is facing not only medical and emotional hardships, but financial ones as well. Though she is fortunate to have medical insurance, the out-of-pocket costs of healing—surgery, radiation, and possibly chemotherapy—are weighing heavily on Lauren and Allison. The Wyeths need our help. Beyond the direct costs of treatment, the Wyeths will likely have other expenses, especially as Lauren is recovering from surgery, like meal delivery, clothes that button in the front, or a recliner so Lauren can comfortably recuperate somewhere other than bed. Lauren has been one of my closest and dearest friends since the early 1990s. When I think back over my life, Lauren stands out as one of the most caring, loving, wise, and generous people I have ever known. If you know Lauren, you know this to be true as well. Now, we have a chance to reciprocate Lauren’s love and support by giving back to this remarkable woman who has been an incredible friend to all of us.
