Hello! My name is Brittany and I am the daughter of Krista Dye. As a lot of you may know, my Mom has been faced with another intense, and diffucult medical journey! Both of her insurance companies are refusing to cover the care she needs and are trying to kick her out of the nursing home she is currently in, in just 2 days (July 8th)! She currently cannot walk, and cannot complete her eveyday needs on her own. Her insurance company also will not cover care once she is home. In April she started experiencing numbness and was admitted to University Hospital Cleveland. They thought she had several bleeds on her spine and she underwent a 7 hour back surgery. After the surgery they determined she didn’t need the surgery and that wasn’t the issue, and determined she has an autoimmune disease attacking her spine. They started her on plasma therapy. So now she has to recover and learn how to walk again for the fifth time. She has been through so many hard medical events that no one should have to at her age, from her first major stroke at 28, to being diagnosed with lupas and several major surgieries and complications due to her conditions. She has no been diagnosed with two new autoimmune diseases which are attacking her spine. Along with her Lupus she now is battling Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) spectrum disorder and MOG-Myelin. She will now require an antibody infusion every 6 months to help prevent this from happening again. The treatment is $300,000 each time and additional things will have to be done to accommodate her needs when she’s able to go home. It is hard for us to do this because we aren't the type of people who ask for help, but we have no other option at this point, but even a $1 will help!
