A little after a year of working as a barista, I sat across a good friend and dreamed big..."I want to open up a coffee shop." Being trained through Portland Coffee Roasters I learned so much about the art of coffee. But the best thing I learned was about what people are drawn to. People are always drawn to people and that's what my dream is with this coffee cart. We are starting a company that is in the service of helping create memories. A mentor of mine once sat me down and asked "Jose, what is your mission statement?" This was the most difficult thing to answer in the moment. He challenged me to study mission statements from trusted companies and organizations around the world and see what a mission statement is all about. I came back a week later and was hit by the natural gift I have been given. "Jose exists to create spaces for people to be known and know others." I finally got to a place where I understood what my mission was. Coffee does just that. It creates an atmosphere for people to be known and know others. It draws so many people from all backgrounds of life to experience a great cup of jo. The goal isn't just to start a coffee cart that is mobile for events, this is just the start. I want to open up a storefront that will impact the communities we go to. With that, we have so much work to do!
