Introduction: Hi, my name is Seth Predix, one of Kevin's good friends and neighbors. I am reaching out today for the Sliver family. In April, what began as a nuisance pain in the stomach that would not go away, turned into a cancerous mass on the head of the pancreas. Kevin was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Kevin is a small business owner who owns and operates a local landscaping/mowing company. With this diagnosis, the invasive surgeries, and upcoming chemotherapy, it is the doctor's orders that he no longer physically work in his business. Even though Kevin has great employees, he relied on his body and physically working in his business to provide for his family. This unexpected diagnosis has been extremely overwhelming for the Sliver family, and we are humbly asking for your prayers and support. Background: Kevin is a loving husband and father of two beautiful daughters. Anyone that knows Kevin knows that he has a servant’s heart. I first met Kevin 10 years ago when I moved onto his street. My wife and I had purchased an old farmhouse, and while I was in the middle of renovating the house, I met Kevin. Kevin and I immediately began talking about construction, and next thing you know, almost every piece of equipment and tool he owned was sitting at my house for me to use. I asked Kevin after we were done with the job how much I owed him. He told me “Don’t worry about it, I’m sure you will help me someday.” Now is our “someday” to finally help a man that has always helped others with no expectation of someone helping him in return. Treatment Background: After Kevin was diagnosed with a tumor at the head of his pancreas, the doctors immediately came up with a strategy to help and cure Kevin. The doctors performed the Whipple procedure, which is an 8-hour surgery that removes a portion of the small intestine, pancreas, gallbladder, and certain lymph nodes. During the surgery, the doctors discovered the cancer had metastasized to the liver but successfully removed the cancerous portion during the scheduled Whipple procedure. Post-surgery came with its challenges. Kevin spent almost 3 weeks in the hospital with some complications and infections from the invasiveness of the surgery. Kevin successfully recovered from the Whipple procedure and had his first round of chemotherapy on July 19th. Kevin did have a minor setback of pancreatitis but is scheduled to continue his chemotherapy for 6 more months. Kevin is not only a fighter; he is also a very positive and optimistic guy. That is what it takes to beat stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Financial Challenges: As I said earlier, Kevin is a self-employed small business owner who has always used his physical body to provide for his wife and two daughters. With the invasiveness of the Whipple procedure and six months of aggressive chemotherapy, doctors are ordering Kevin to remove himself from the physical labor of his business and spend that time focusing on his recovery. This is a tough pill to swallow for a hardworking, small business owner who has always provided for his family. The cost to fight pancreatic cancer is very overwhelming, especially for a small business owner who can no longer physically perform the tasks that have provided for him for decades. Therefore, the money that is raised through this LFEBridge will help the Sliver family pay for all day-to-day expenses as well as the costly medical bills and treatments to beat pancreatic cancer. We want Kevin to focus on healing his body and not have to stress about how certain bills will be paid. How You Can Help: • Financial Donations: By donating to Kevin’s LFEBridge, you can help alleviate the financial burdens for the Sliver family and ensure that all of Kevin’s focus and energy is going towards healing his body. All your funds will go directly to the Sliver Family to cover certain medical costs and average day-to-day expenses. • Spread the Word: Sharing Kevin’s LFEBridge campaign with your friends, family, and social network is another way to make a meaningful impact. Your voice can reach others who may be willing to lend a helping hand or share this fundraiser. • Emotional support: Your messages of encouragement, prayer, and positive thoughts are invaluable and appreciated by the Sliver Family. All messages will be shared with the Sliver Family. Conclusion: Kevin has helped so many people, and it is finally time for his friends and family to return the favor. Kevin is a fighter, and if anyone can beat Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer it will be Kevin Sliver! Let us help in the fight by letting Kevin focus on his recovery, and let Kevin see that his friends and family have his expenses covered until he can fully heal and return to his business. The Sliver Family is truly grateful for all the support they have received thus far and will keep everyone updated on Kevin’s recovery.
