Most of our friends know A came into our home two months ago. The very very condensed version of the story is that she was removed from a foster home accused of physical abuse. That physical abuse was confirmed by ACS and it was recommended the agency close the foster home. The foster parent got a lawyer and another branch of ACS said the agency should send A back to this home, which the agency then decided to do despite the confirmed abuse. There is SO much more to the story, including months and months of developmental progress A made in the short time she was with us, and lots of lies from the other home. It’s complex and corrupt and so so awful. All we want is to protect A. We have spoken with several lawyers, found one who is perfect for this case, and going to fight for A. His retainer is $7,500 and he charges $400/hour. This fight will hopefully not be too long, but it will require quite a few hours from him. We hope not more than 40, but for now we just need to raise the retainer. Thank you so much for your help. Those of you that got to meet A, and especially those of you who met her more than once and watched her blossom, have been so helpful in encouraging us to pursue justice.
