Fundraising for medical and related travel and care expenses for Jojo (Turner) Roach - Sister, Sister-In-Law, Aunt, Mom, Classmate, Cousin and Friend! Jojo successfully fought cancer 12 years ago, but she recently noticed another lump in her mouth. Surgeons removed a mass from her tongue that was identified as cancerous, but additional testing showed that it had progressed further into her mouth, tongue, and down her throat - Stage 3 Cancer. Her doctor is confident he can remove it all through surgery. Her treatment will also include surgical reconstruction of her tongue. Jojo has been residing in Michigan, but her surgeon is at Siteman Cancer Center in St Louis, MO, where she must travel to and stay locally for several weeks for surgery and follow-up care. Her husband, Brandon, has had to take an unpaid leave of absence to be by her side as her primary caregiver. Besides their temporary living expenses in St Louis, they must also keep their Michigan home afloat to go back to post-care. Jojo's initial surgery is Monday, July 24th! Please keep Jojo (and Brandon) in your prayers!! Financial support of ANY amount would be greatly appreciated. Please follow along to check on Jojo's progress! UPDATE 7/25/23: JoJo’s surgery was a very complex, but a success! Her doctor believes he has removed all of the cancerous growth, however the pathology report will determine how she is to proceed with chemotherapy and/or radiation treatment.  As for now, it is looking brighter for her, but her journey has just begun! Please continue praying for her healing process; her journey has just began to regain all that is needed to eat, speak, and swallow.  Thank you all for the love and support that has been shown for JoJo and our family! UPDATE 8/5/2024: JoJo is still in the hospital and back in the PCU. She had another episode of arterial bleeding from her nose and mouth (6th time). The CTA imaging didn't show anything indicating a definitive source yet but they're zeroing in on a small spot in the back of her tongue. They are keeping her until later this week to allow her time to heal so the doctor can do another surgery to find and repair the source of the bleed. She got a another blood transfusion and is resting. Jojo is feeling okay, but frightened about the bleeding. Her surgery sites are healing very well and have no issues.  Her pathology report looks good with clear margins; they want to be certain there is no cancer in her nerves that would require radiation treatment. All drains are out but stitches had to be replaced on her tongue and around her tracheotomy. Please keep JoJo in your thoughts and prayers! UPDATE 8/17/2024: Jojo had her followup with the surgeon today and everything looks fantastic. She has a radiation oncology appointment next Monday to discuss possible radiation treatment. If they find cancer, they'll immediately move forward with treatment as long as she can receive more radiation. She has a final followup next Wednesday with her surgeon and should be able to go home next Thursday at least for a little bit. Her pet scan won't be done until 3 months from the date of her surgery, so will be in limbo until then. The doctor is very optimistic. They will then be driving back and forth from Michigan.
