Hi!! Thanks for clicking on my fundraiser! My name is Joe, I’m 23 years old and I am a Transgender male living in London. I currently work in security and freelance photography. My goal for this is set at £6,500 in order to help with surgery costs and to help with living costs of my recovery period- this is alongside what I am trying to save up myself (for clinic costs, surgery costs, appointment costs etc) I have decided to set up a fund as, as much as I am trying to save up, things are a little tough right now. The cost of living crisis has affected myself much like everyone else and saving up really has come to a halt along with having some health issues that have limited my ability to work in some months this year. From as young as I can remember I have known I am Trans and it’s not been an easy ride. To many of my closer friends I have been out to you for as long as six years but for many people it may be quite new. I’ve battled for years in my head with the anxieties of telling everyone- friends and family. And for many of those years it pushed me further and further back. now I am out to everyone and I couldn’t be feeling anymore happier that I can start moving towards gender affirming care which to say the least will be life saving. Unfortunately though, these procedures do not come without a price. For a lot of years I have struggled with my chest, I’ve missed days of work, school and college because I haven’t been confident enough to go outside. It impacts every aspect of my day, everyday. I’ve been binding my chest for seven years now and as some may know, it’s not the safest thing to do and is definitely not a long term solution. I have come to the conclusion that this surgery is necessary for my to continue with everyday life. (And on a real note I can’t wait for my first topless summer. Or first swim in the pool!
