Hi Everyone, My name is Jim Land. You may know me as the founder of the Lindon Memorial Youth Bowling Series. About two years ago I was diagnosed with a neurological dysfunction called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. (CRPS) You all are probably aware of how much I love the sport of bowling and I am hoping to share my story through the Bowling industry, the Skating industry as well as other opportunities to help me raise not only funds, but awareness about this extremely rare and excruciating disease, which has been tabbed, “The suicide disease”. CRPS is a condition that is associated with the imbalance and malfunction of the autonomic nervous system. Medically speaking, it is the most painful disease known to man. It is rated higher than childbirth and amputation on the McGill it Pain Index chart at 47/50. Many people including myself describe it as if they were being burnt alive in the affected areas. Although it is invisible so to speak, it’s sometimes unbearable. At this moment this disease is in both feet and lower legs and is spreading to my hands and fingers..After trying so many things, going through many different doctors and thinking maybe there wasn’t any hope of getting better, I found a new source of hope called “The Spero Clinic” located in Fayetteville, Arkansas led by a Neurology Nerve Rehabilitation Specialist named Dr Katina Van Der Merwe. Dr K as they call her has treated patients from all over the world from 52 different countries with her 12 week Neurologic Rehabilitation Program. Unfortunately, most insurances do not cover this program. Therapy sessions at The Spero Clinic costs $3,500 per week and I would also need to relocate to Fayetteville for the length of the program. Having fundraisers such as this certainly will help me attain my goal. Please help by sharing and spreading the word. For more info on The Spero Clinic please visit their FB page. Thank you all for your support through the years for the Lindon Memorial Youth Challenge Bowling Series and for your help and thoughtfulness in this situation. Many blessings to you all and may God Bless!! With Love and Appreciation, THANK YOU !!! JIM LAND
