I am fundraising for my daughter, Jennifer. Jen is a single mom, doing everything she can for my amazing granddaughter. Almost 7 months ago, her car stopped running and was not fixable. She did not have the money to purchase a new one as it was completely unexpected and has been scrimping and saving this whole time to purchase a good running car that would fit her and her daughter's (and their two pups) needs. Over those 7 months, she researched all different types of cars, different dealerships, and insurance companies, she researched and researched and saved. She was lucky enough to be fairly well set up for being without a car for a period of time due to close proximity to her daughter's school and classes, working at home and was able to walk most places and using Ubers if necessary, but she had promised her daughter that before the new school year starts that she would have a car again to make school runs easier for her daughter. On Saturday 7/22/23 Jen finally had enough to purchase a ’new to her’ 2008 Honda CRV along with a small loan. Her daughter was with her dad for his summertime visit, so she was extremely excited to surprise her daughter when she got back home. She took it to a recommended auto shop on Tuesday, July 25, 2024. She was told that she could drop off the car the night before and leave the key in a lockbox, that it would be safe there until the shop opened in the morning, as the appointment time the next day was during her work hours. The next morning Jen called the auto repair shop, who told her that the car was checked in and they had the key, they would call her after the services were performed. Jen did not hear from them and called them after she got off of work only to be told that the shop never had the car. After many calls back and forth, it was determined that there was a miscommunication between the people working at the shop and indeed the car was gone and had been stolen at some time between 8 pm when she dropped off the car and 7 am when the shop opened. Jen filed a police report immediately, hoping against all odds that the car would be found whole. The police found her car Wednesday 7/26/23 around 8 am about 5 miles from the shop location, it had been completely stripped of the new tires, most of the seats, most engine parts, and even the floorboards and carpeting. The car was totaled. The police are investigating the theft and thankfully there was video footage of the two people who stole the car but it appears to be a well-honed car theft ring. Jen is now left without the cash she paid, still owing the balance of the loan and has no car. All donations made will be applied to the loan and a new car. She has worked so very hard to provide all the necessities for her daughter and herself and I am brokenhearted, I would very much appreciate your help in showing her that there are still good people in the world who want to help instead of hurt others.
