Jacob Buss was severely injured in a motorcycle accident in Umatilla on June 9th. After nearly two weeks in the ICU and multiple surgeries, Jacob was sent home to convalesce. Jacob is faced with debilitating damage to his left forearm, wrist and hand, additionally, he suffered extensive damage to his left femur and knee which have been repaired. Jacob's wounds on his ankle and foot have to heal before the surgeon will be confident enough to begin further reconstruction. It’s going to be a long road ahead for this young man. On a positive note, the surgeries to stabilize his pelvis and stop internal bleeding have been successful. Those who are close to Jacob know that he is left-hand dominant, and as such, the hopes and prayers that future surgeries will help to restore some use of that hand are so appreciated. Jake is a talented welder and an artistic woodworker, always supporting his community at local art festivals and events. After meeting with his team of 5 different surgeons, each with their specialty, it is clear that Jacob won’t be able to bear any weight on his left side or use his hand at all for months to come. Jacob has been an active member at church, loves to work out at the gym, was an avid fisherman and loves outdoor adventures. Many of you will recognize his photo with the “goofy” helmet, he always wore while riding his motorcycle. He wore this just because of the smiles and thumbs up he got from kids in adjacent vehicles. Throughout all of this trauma, Jacob wants others to know that his faith in Christ has never wavered, and he is certain that God will use this event, in some way to strengthen others' relationships with God. Jacob had recently started a new job and was only 21 days shy of having full health insurance coverage. The orthopedic traumatologist says that Jacob will face many upcoming surgeries in the next year, and feels that he will not be able to return to work for months. Jacob has no insurance and for right now no hope for future earnings in the near future. He is the type of person that would do anything for anybody. He genuinely cares about others and would give the shirt off his back to help. Now he needs help to get him through this. If possible, please give whatever you can to help ease the financial worries, so he can recover and get back on his feet! On behalf of Jacob and his family, please know that we will be touched beyond measure with any help you might be able to offer, We would also be forever grateful for your continued prayers for his recovery.
