UPDATE: I wanted to thank everyone who has helped me on my journey since the summer of last year. After nearly seven months, the myriad of medications and two rounds of treatment have been promising, but I'm not quite done like I hoped to be in December. By the encouragement of my oncologist and nurses alike, I started what will hopefully be my last round of treatment yesterday, January 8th (the day after my birthday, lucky me.) Its been the care and generosity of everyone seeing this that's gotten me through this rotten chapter – you are all the silver lining! In no way am I asking anyone to replicate previous generosity, anything you can provide (a kind warm regard, or even a dollar) is more than enough. Dear Friends, Family, and kindhearted strangers, For those of you who don't know me my name is Jack Kemper. I am based in Los Angeles, California originally from just outside of Seattle, Washington. I made my way south to LA about two years ago in search of change – to open a new bright chapter in my life. Screenwriting, film, and storytelling are deep-rooted passions of mine and living in a place surrounded by passionate people and palpable motivation has brought profound joy to my life. I am reaching out today due to unforeseen medical hardships that have placed a strain on my daily life. About two months ago, I went to urgent care to get my throat checked out. I've been afflicted with strep throat a hand full of times in my life and thought nothing of it; just a quick check-up and a round of antibiotics and I'd be fine. Unfortunately, that was not the case. After blood work, a CT scan, and several longwinded doctor appointments I was diagnosed with stage three laryngeal and oropharyngeal cancers. Despite the harrowing news, the outpour of care and love from my immediate community has gotten me through the beginnings of my treatment. I am not alone in this. For those who do know me, you'll know that I am not one to ask for help unless absolutely necessary. As uncomfortable as this is, I've had to sit down with myself and accept that I cannot do this alone. The support I've received so far has been nothing short of a blessing. As my journey continues, I am seeking support to help with treatment costs and medical expenses during this challenging time. Your generous donations will make a profound impact by: Covering Medical Expenses: The financial strain of battling cancer should never stand in the way of receiving essential medical care. Your donations will help me cover the mounting medical expenses that have come with treatment. Time off work: I'm currently working less than normal due to the strain put on my body because of the treatment. I'm trying to give my body the best possible opportunity to heal. How You Can Help: Donate: Any amount, large or small, will be tremendously appreciated and will directly aid me along this journey. Share: Please spread the word about my (Jack's LFEBridge) campaign. Share it on social media, with friends, family, and colleagues. Thank you for your kindness and compassion. If you would like to donate via a different method, please feel free to email me. With love, Jack
