This fundraiser is in support of a beautiful little boy named Jace. He was diagnosed with Leukemia just a few short months after he was born. After enduring a year and a half of chemotherapy, Jace went into remission. But today, his mother, Melissa, got the devastating news that leukemia has returned, and more chemotherapy treatment is needed. This sweet and loving boy is almost 3 years old and has a lot of life left to live. The last 8 months of remission felt like pure bliss. Jace was happy, healthy, and able to play and learn as any 2-year-old child would. During the last 2 weeks though, things took a turn. What started as a little tummy ache for Jace turned into a violent stomach bug. Jace was constantly getting sick and refused to eat or drink anything. As any concerned mother would, Melissa brought Jace to the doctor and was told that this was only a stomach bug and that Jace would be okay in just a few days. Melissa’s instincts told her that something else was going on, and she brought Jace to the emergency room the next day. The doctors in the emergency room immediately became concerned about Jace’s history of Leukemia since he had only been in remission for 8 months. After significant testing and a few days of waiting… today, Melissa received the call that Jace was no longer in remission and another round of chemotherapy will be needed to treat the Leukemia. Melissa is a single mother currently working a full-time job while going to night school 6 days a week to support Jace and secure his future; she is a wonderful, strong, loving mother that has endured so many trials through Jace’s fight against cancer. After receiving the news today, Melissa sprang into action to look for a second full-time job and inquire about putting her schooling on hold to pay for Jace’s medical expenses. This means that Melissa will not be able to spend as much time with Jace during the difficult next few months. If we can come together as a community to donate to Jace’s fight to win against cancer, both he and his mother Melissa can be supported without a need for her to take on a second job. It will also help her to finish her degree as she is set to graduate in just 4 months; this would be huge for her little family so that she can continue to support Jace and his battle to win against Leukemia. The last thing that Melissa should be worrying about is paying for Jace’s medical expenses during this difficult time. Please find it in your hearts to contribute to the support of this little family so that Melissa and Jace can kick cancer’s butt!
