Last night, 8-year-old Isaac Louis was urgently admitted to Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota. He underwent his first medical procedure to drain fluid from his brain upon arrival. Subsequently, he was medevac'd to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota, where doctors worked diligently to remove the tumor from his brain stem during his second surgery. Currently, further details about his condition are not known. Isaac has six siblings, and his family is facing challenging times. If you'd like to offer support, please consider donating to Isaac's official fundraising campaign, aimed at helping Isaac and his family during this difficult period. Our thoughts and well wishes are with them, and we hope for a successful recovery for Isaac. All donations are appreciated. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and generosity. Here are some ways your contribution can make a difference: • A donation of $5 buys a much-needed cup of coffee. • A donation of $10 buys a meal for a family member. • A donation of $20 will allow his family to take a leave of absence from work to be with Isaac. • A donation of $75 helps cover one tank of gas for the drives to and from the hospital. • A donation of $100 helps to cover a hotel room for the family for a night. Update: Monday, July 31st, 6:30 PM I'm at his side now. He finished surgery around 6:30 PM and briefly opened his eyes. The surgeon removed the tumor through a 7-8" long incision and spinal fluid will continue to drain for the time being. The doctor believes they got all the tumor out. He'll remain intubated until tomorrow's MRI, where they'll check his spine for more growths. The surgeon sent out tissue samples to test for Cancer cells, as they believe there is a reasonable chance of the tumor being cancerous. We should know the results within the next 5 days. Thanks to everyone for their love and support. The recovery is expected to take around a month, with a week or two in ICU before moving to pediatrics for the last phase. We will update more when we can. Update: Tuesday, August 1st, 6:30 PM Isaac is making remarkable progress. He opened his eyes and spoke a few words. I told him how strong he is, how proud of him I am, and that I love him so much. He told me he loves me too and wants to go home. Considering the situation, things are going well. Thank you all for your love and support. While we're not completely out of the woods yet, his recovery is exceeding my expectations. Update: Thursday, August 3rd, 6:30 PM Isaac had some physical therapy today, and it went well. He briefly stood up with some assistance. He ate some solid food, including hotdogs, Mac and cheese, and had a little orange juice. I showed him a picture of all his sisters, and he was able to name every single one. My folks made a trip back to the farm and picked up his favorite stuffed animal, the "black panther" from the movie. I handed it to him, and he hugged it and shed a few tears. We are still waiting for pathology results about the tumor test, and it will be approximately 2 weeks before the spinal tap to test for cancer/tumor cells.
