Hi my name is Donna Ray. I am starting this fundraiser to help someone that is very special to me and my family. My brother Ray’s wife “Irene Brown” was recently diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes. It is called Invasive Ductal Carcinoma stage 3. This news has been very devastating and scary for her and to our entire family. Irene is only 46 years old and she is just a little thing weighing a whopping 98 lbs. Irene is a very loving wife and an Amazing mother to her 4 children (of which 2 are still young 10 and 12 years old.) Her family means everything to her. Irene is a very selfless, God loving woman and has a heart of gold. She would give you the shirt off her back and would help anyone that needed her. She has always been an extremely hard worker. Her and Ray have always worked 2 jobs to try to make ends meet and to help their daughter through college. Irene also tries her best to help her family in the Phillipines whenever possible. Irene and Ray are already struggling to survive in this crazy expensive world and now they are being dealt this devastating news. The bills are already pouring in from the medical appointments, CT Scans, MRI’s, biopsies she has already had. Our beautiful sweet Irene will be starting Chemo next week. The doctor says she will unfortunately loose her hair but that is not a big deal if they can kill these cancer cells! We are not sure how many months of Chemo she has to have yet, because they have to see how the first 4 treatments will go. When the Chemo is done she will be having the procedure of a double Mastectomy. She will missing quite a bit of work and I’m sure Ray will also have to miss some work to be with her when she needs him. With the cost of insurance, the high deductibles, copays, co-insurance, medicines, travel back and forth to doctors and hospitals I am not sure how they are going to be able to handle all the debt without some kind of help. It is sad that we live in a world where drug addicts can get free medical and drugs but someone that is a hard worker and fighting for their life with Cancer does not. Chemo, Cat Scans, MRI’s, Biopsies and surgeries are very expensive even if you have insurance. 4 Chemo sessions can cost up to $48,000 and that is for just the Chemo. I can’t even imagine what the surgery will cost. People do not realize any of this until it happens to them. So many people lose their homes to fight to stay alive. I am asking for help for them. They do not deserve this. No-one deserves this. Every little bit helps even if it is small amount. Irene is like a daughter to me. She has been in our family for 24 years. She IS our family. It breaks my heart that she has to go through any of this. She has a long journey ahead of her but we are determined that she will kick Cancers butt!! Everyone please keep Irene and our family in your thoughts and prayers. Pray to keep her strong and calm her so she can get some sleep. Pray that she will not have to endure too much pain from all of this. Cancer Sucks!! Family is everything. Thank you. We love you all.
