Hunter Hoover 32, was weeks away from a Kidney Transplant and then his health started to fail, resulting in postponing his transplant. The kidney transplant team at the University of Colorado Hospital needs Hunter at full strength and we can all help him get there! Hunter was diagnosed with a rare form of kidney disease called ‘Focal Glomerular Sclerosis’ when he was 17 and a senior in high school. Although he learned someday he would need a kidney transplant, Hunter continued to lead an active lifestyle. He enjoyed his favorite activities (golf, snowboarding, mountain biking, and fishing). All while successfully managing his numerous appointments, tests, and extensive medication regimen. In 2018, Hunter began his pursuit of becoming a licensed electrician, which he achieved in 2024. During this time, he began peritoneal dialysis (PD) nightly at home until November 2024, when Hunter’s health began to falter. The family received encouraging news earlier this year when Hunter’s younger Brother, Hayden, was confirmed as a match for kidney donation! He now has home hemodialysis treatments 4 days a week,(5-6 hours from start to finish) which his mother went to training for and handles herself at home and the other days are doctors and therapy appointments. Hunter has remained determined and steadfast throughout this journey with no doubt that he will one day receive the transplant. The medical teams that have treated him in the hospitals and clinics, as well as the home healthcare professionals, have been outstanding. His family and friends have supported him throughout this long process. This journey for Hunter has been costly and his expenses continue to grow. Your donations are greatly appreciated and will help offset his medical costs, his mom, Susan’s, time off work to care for him and Hayden’s eventual costs associated with the transplant. “Thank You” does not even touch the immense amount of appreciation we feel for your kindness, support, and prayers.
