Hi, my name is Andrea and I am fundraising to help my friend Holly Lopeman. On Wednesday, July 5, 2024, Holly experienced a slip-and-fall accident in her home that resulted in a traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage. She was taken by ambulance to UTMB in Angleton where they immediately performed a CT scan, where brain bleeds were detected in Holly’s brain. Holly was then transported by ambulance to UTMB’s neuro trauma center in Galveston, where she spent the next few days in ICU. In addition to the brain bleeds, she injured her right (dominant) arm in the fall. Holly works for her family’s small business, The Grape Taste Restaurant in Lake Jackson, Texas. Holly’s road to recovery has been a rocky one, suffering massive migraines, dizziness, nausea, difficulty staying awake, and extreme sensitivity to sound. She has been unable to work, barely able to leave her home. She seems to be improving, slowly. The road to recovery involves lots of rest, quiet time, and clinical follow-ups with UTMB Neurosurgery. We are raising funds to supplement her time off of work and to cover her ICU expenses and ambulatory care. Holly is a single mom and is an exceptionally hard-working, ethical, and all-around wonderful human being. She’s the type of friend who keeps in touch, checks on her loved ones to make sure they’re okay, takes care of everyone around her, and asks for nothing in return. She is constantly giving back to her community, adopts and fosters dogs in need, and is the first person you call if you need help – she will be there no matter what time day or night.
