Hello! My name is Henry Murphy and I am a 23 year-old transgender man having just finished my art degree in London. This is the second crowd fundraiser and GFM account I have had to make, as LFEBridge (un)kindly deleted my first, making me lose over £200 worth of donations towards my transition. This is a long one but I surely hope you take the time to read and consider donating/ sharing to help me feel like I belong in my own body. I came out in late 2019, but have known something was different about me since 4 years old. I been on the NHS Gender Clinic waiting list for just a first appointment ever since. My gender dysphoria is currently at an all-time low, with my voice and chest being my worst afflictions. I have been binding my chest every day for six years now since I was 16, the majority of this practice being unsafe and for extremely long hours. Binding has taken a drastic toll on both my physical and mental health, now with my long-term back and respiratory problems, and my ever-worsening chest dysphoria. The NHS waiting times for transgender people are absurd and are literally killing us, and the prices for top surgery in the UK are preposterous. I recently was lucky enough to be lent £500 to get a private referral for a Gender Dysphoria diagnosis, and I am now seeing The Gender Hormone Clinic, a private establishment in London in consequence of this. Thanks to this and to your donations I now am on testosterone and paying for prescriptions monthly. I am a full-time student living in London and the cost of living crisis has made this process extremely difficult, and I hate to ask but I need help in finally being able to feel at home in my body and skin. A private testosterone prescription will cost every month, and I need assistance in being able to pay for this treatment. Starting costs for undergoing top surgery under private care in the UK are ridiculous, ranging from £5000 to £8000, not counting travel and before and aftercare costs. I am asking In this crowdfund for assistance in paying for my overall transition, for help with testosterone next month and for my hopeful eventual top surgery.
